What story does your Vision tell?

The job of the leader is simple. Create a clear powerful vision of what the future will be. Whether you are on your own or run a team of hundreds its the same.

Why?

Because we are a species of storytellers. We work in pictures and we have to see what the future is in our mind so that we can get excited about it and be prepared to endure the hardships that will come but know that it will all be worth it.

So why don't more people do it?

If I were to ask you to sell me your vision would you be able to do it with such clarity, such purpose that I couldn't help but want to be a part of it?

Well, if you're like most, the answer will be no. Just think about that for a second, if, as the businesses leaders, you cant be inspired by your own vision, then just how is everyone else supposed to get excited about it? That goes for your team, your clients, and your prospects.

We all need to have a purpose. We all want certainty in our lives. These are 2 key elements that come above money. We have all heard the stories of those that are discontent because they don't know where their Company is going so they hand in their notice. The manager panics, after all, where else would they get someone so enthusiastic about a future they cant see and so does the only thing they know how......offer them more money to stay.

The employee says yes but very quickly realises that the money doesn't fill that deeper desire to be more fulfilled every day.
